I'm a collage student. I've got an JDM EG GLI. I think it's an LX in the US, not sure what you euros call it. Gas mileage is awesome, Parts for it are cheap and everywhere. I personally like them more than golfs, as parts are cheaper for them.. but I highly doubt that that'd be a problem for you euro guys. EG hatches have a load of space in the back as the seats fold down, leaving room for your new rims or other activities there is room to sleep in the back too. The only downside of mine is the lack of power, as mine only has a SOHC 1.5l engine. If you go for an EG, make sure it's got Vtec or you have the money for a conversion straight out of the box.
