So one of the guys over at nogrip racing (JDougNY) found out how to run Shift 2 partially unpacked and how to decode most of the files. This means Shift 2 is quite moddable now!
So I'm working on a mod for it. It will include things like "VStanced Edition" versions of the original cars (similar to the S14 pictured), more realistic engine swaps (2JZ in a AE86? come on..It will get a nice rotary transplant.) For now I will ATTEMPT to add one new car, the Ford Falcon FG V8 Supercar. Also I will try to fix some things, like the broken Drag mode, the unrealistic engine braking force and anything else I find that hasn't been fixed by the awesome Unnoficial Community Patch. List of planned changed engine swaps.. Ford Escort MK1 - Shelby V6 Ford Lotus Cortina - Mazda 13B Lotus Elise (VStanced Edition) - Mazda 13B Mazda RX7 FC (VStanced Edition) - LS2 V8 Nissan 240SX - S15 SR20DET Nissan 240SX (VStanced Edition)- R32 RB26DETT Nissan S14 - R32 RB26DETT Nissan S14 (VStanced Edtition) - LS2 V8 Nissan S15 - R34 RB26DETT Nissan R32 - R34 RB26DETT Shelby GT500KR '67 (VStanced Edtion) - R34 RB26DETT 2010 Shelby GT500 - V10 Toyota Corolla - Mazda 13B Toyota Supra - Lexus V8 VW Golf GTi (VStanced Edition) - Audi 3.2L V6 + AWD *UPDATE* 04/09/2011 Fixed the engine sound bug in some of the DLC cars, mainly the Nissan 2000 GT-R and 240Z with engine swap sounding like it's hitting the rev limiter way early. This shows it never had any effect on performance, it was just being pointed to the wrong sound pack. How could the devs miss all this simple shit, and then it still gets through EA's testing If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to suggest away.
