Hey everyone! I want to try to make my IRL car in SLRR, but I have no idea where to start. I can get basically unlimited pics and specs. I wanted to do multiple trim levels (Brighton, L, LS, LSi, GT, and Outback versions of them. Outback is just air suspension and slightly more ride height) and its own engine. Well, the EJ22 The GT would use BB's EJ25 (probably). Want to also do a body kit for it (VIS racing). I know this is a HUUUGE project, but I'm hoping to get help with it.

Get orthogonal blueprints (or really good front, side, back, and top photos that are square-on and shot from a distance to maximize focal length and minimize perspective); or, alternatively, a pre-existing 3D model if you can find one.

Don't worry too much about scripting or trim levels until you get a basic model from somewhere.

Here's a 3D model of a 1998, and also found a website which has full specs of the car (LWH)

3d model: *LINK*

Specs page: *LINK*

Added 1 hour 12 minutes later:

The 3d model is not the best (by far and away! xD) but I was even surprised that the Gen 2 body style was even modeled!

Yeah, you're sadly probably not going to get very far with that 3D model. If you put a lot of work into it, it might be clean enough for an SLRR mod on the same level as some of the custom modeled cars by SLRR PT or the Thailand crew guys (like the trucks and some of the FWD cars), but you're not going to get screenshots out of it that will be Forza-convert-quality unless you re-model half of it.

If you want to do a car conversion, might I suggest that you try a Forza conversion first? (Probably a two-door car of a model that's new for FM3 or FM4; those tend to be the best models to work with, as they vary in quality. Two doors = easy door sills.) And if you've never done a mod at all, I'd suggest doing a rim or a brake pack (or a one-piece engine? etc.) even before that.

Also - nice work with finding some of the spec sheets! I try to make my mods as realistic as I can, but it's very rare that I find such awesome sources of information; and it's rarer that any other modders put that level of attention to detail into trim levels of their car other than the one that's already modeled.

Well, then I guess I'll try rims... How do I go about that? I saw on a site there were Forza 3 rim models I could download. If I get one I like, How do I go about converting it? I.E. the Brabus Monoblock 5's? I downloaded the TGA and Z3D files for it.

(I also may have downloaded a Volvo S60 R-Design model xD)

start with a rim! not a car :) car is too complex to start with.

go to tutorial section, I filmed a video a couple of years back teaching/explaining how to do it.

So, got the wheel opened in Zmodeler. The tire is attached to it. How do I get it off of there?

@JC, currently watching the video

You only need zmod to import and then export your model in a format usable for 3ds.

3ds max 5 is the only program (that I know of) that has an .scx export plugin, which is necessary for exporting to slrr, so you're gonna need to download that before you can continue.
