A lot has happened in these past week... Starting the update off with the S13.THE DREADED S13So as you may remember, i said a few updates ago that i was gonna soon take it out to Ebisu/Maze. Well, i kept my word. Or at least i tried to. I decided, like everyone else would, to do a full nut and bolt check of the car early morning before taking to the track. And with that boltcheck, i decided to randomly compression test the engine. THATS WHERE THINGS GOT HAIRYCYLINDER 4. LOW COMPRESSO. ES NO BUENO.The last time i comp tested this engine was when it was in my S14. at the time it was fine. IDIOT ME FORGOT TO TEST AGAIN BEFORE SLAPPING MODS ON IT BECAUSE ALL THATS IN MY HEAD WAS ITS A WORKING ENGINE SMH.Welp, ofc i didnt take it to the track anyways. Cuz i'll just get myself into trouble if the engine fails completely. Which is quite inevitable. That day over lunch tho, During a serious discussion and no jokes involved, at all, Marc (Macaron_Moon), being the good sport that he is, and being the only person around us with proper Mechanical engineering knowledge, told me to marc his words (HAHA I CAN PUN TOO OK AJ) that he'd build the S13 again, from GROUND UP. talking a whole different look, fully refreshed engine, refreshed suspension and so on. Well, OFC I DIDNT DENY. This time, we're gonna take our time with it and build it to proper high standards. Leaving no nut or bolt untouched. Well thats the plan at least. If things work out properly, it'll be done sooner.Thats that for this car then. Here it sits, awaiting to be rebuiltnext day...
BACK ON THE WAGONNot much has changed on it yet. Apart from the rear bumper! Found a good deal at a Do-Luck rear bumper and pulled the trigger. LOOKS HEAPS BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS BUMPERAlmost time for its first shakedown somewhere. Jk, IT IS TIME. since i failed to take the S13 to a track the day before, i decided to take the wagon, the automatic, stock suspension wagon, TO TSUKUBA. After a nut and bolt check, and a quick oil change, i set of for the iconic track. Hoping i dont have so much bodyroll that i literally tip the car over*an hour of driving, and 30mins of paperwork later*
WE IN BOISAfter a warmup lap, i decided to open up the taps. Lets see what this thing in all its 260ps and automatic trans can doHalfway in on the first proper lap, the bodyroll wasnt as bad as i was expecting. THE TRANSMISSION HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON FELT SLUGGISH. Maybe just because im not used to track driving older automatic cars. but yeah, THING NEEDS A MANUAL. Desperately trying to hold off until im done the supra (more on that in a bit)All in all, the bodyroll wasnt as bad like i said, but its still there. SOO to basically be fun to drive, this car NEEDS a manual swap and new suspension. Engine felt pretty okay. a bit low on power, but that'll be dealt with soon hopefully. The times? well i topped out at a solid 1:13.48! not bad for a stock CT9W i'd say but upto you to decide. |
