So how about a single cylinder for my cratemobile, if no nuclear power reactor as the engine itself would work?

Or how if you skip the water steam part and only rely onto the warmer part as the whole "engine", that uses the control rod (at the reactor vessel) as either a throttle or "crankshaft" to get quick power?
