It starts up fine, I can create a new career (can't load, because my save files always get corrupted), but then when it loads, the loading screen stays as the garage background, and I can go into the parts shop but everything is pure black on a grey background. the "welcome to SLRR" pop-up can not be closed. when I open the used car dealer, the used car dealer loading screen is there with the 5 buttons and it says "fix your vt's shit" at the top. It seems as if the game somehow corrupted itself. I don't want to lose all my mods!

Get rid of some of your mods, most all of the time the issue is to do with to many mods for SLR:R to handle. And "Fix your VT's S***" is due to bad mods which haven't actually had scripting work done on their VTs, so they don't work, creating the crash avoiding "Fix your VT's S***", due to the way the BB93 version of the game has been modified. You just need to remove mods and do some scripting.

general rule of thumb with slr is to
get a good clean base - aka bb93 slrr get mods you want install one mod test the game - mod, dealers, wheel section, catalog fully built etc install mod 2 rise and repeat. this way you know exactly which mods kill your game. right now, either move all mods out or start fresh,. |

it worked until I installed... wait for it... Devils V8. I can't imagine that would cause problems?

perhaps there are other mods who interfere with devils v8.its a good engine with good (re)script
